Hair loss may not be avoided but at least controlled

When we talk of a well groomed person it has a lot do with hair style of the person, and how it affects the appearance. No one likes hair loss but it happens inevitably to all. Quite a lot of people take loss of hair in their stride and do not show much concern about it. They are people with a tremendous bearing and the absence of hair on their head does not affect their standing in society. But hair loss is a matter of concern for ordinary people, especially if it happens during teenage years. It may have some psychological impact on some youngsters and they need to be helped by proper counseling.

But it is well known that baldness is related heredity. But there are other reasons which cause hair loss. They are mostly related a person’s way of living and dietary habits. In the case of women, loss of substantial hair after menopause is certainty. It also happens to them who have diseases like polycystic ovarian syndrome. Generally a bad diet is the most common reason. A diet which does not contain enough proteins and minerals will certainly cause hair loss. Skin disease and insufficient sleep can also be cited as reasons for loss of hair. Men becoming bald have only the problem of looking different but in the case of women there are other problems also. They are mostly psychological. There is general dissatisfaction with their appearance, self consciousness and worry about continued loss of hair.

Apart from hair loss, hair is also damaged because of the way it handled by people. The more fussy people are about their hair, more are the chances for the hair to get damaged. Excessive perming is one such instance. Constant combing and brushing affects the hair roots causing damage to hair growth. Dying of hair is very common these days, but most people do not know the chemicals used in the dye and also the reaction it will have on the scalp. Rough handling of hair after washing, for drying it is the major cause for hair damage. Using a brush or a fine tooth comb on wet hair also results in damaging the hair. People bleach their hair using hydrogen peroxide usually, this may not have a direct bearing on hair damage but continuous use of hydrogen peroxide is not advocated.

Prevention of hair loss or reducing it to the minimum can be related to several factors including how the hair is handled. The first step is the diet. Hair follicles absorb necessary nutrients from the food for steady growth of hair. Shampooing it regularly and avoidance of sharp objects on the hair will help in reducing fall of hair. With all these it becomes necessary to cover up the receding hairline. Using a wig is a solution that most people prefer as it economical. People who have the means and the time can go for hair transplant. However, the desired result may not be obtained with a single transplant session.

Hair loss require sustained counter action to stop it

Hair loss or baldness is something unavoidable but which many people dread. Both men and women in the normal course suffer loss of hair from the onset of middle age. Loss of hair will lead to thinning of the hair tress in the case of women, but total baldness in the case of women is not heard of. You can say that if taken as a process of nature the onset of baldness should not create mental agony. But it is not so. Research is being done to find out cause for loss of hair and ways and means to stop it completely or reduce it substantially. There is a feeling that a person with thin hair or is bald looks at least 20years older than his age. Of course, hair loss leads to a change in a man’s personality, but it need not cause any other change in him.

Loss of hair is generally hereditary. However, it does not necessarily mean you should also lose hair if it has happened in the case of your forefathers. Apart from heredity there are other issues that could be addressed to get some relief if not total from hair loss. In a general way it is said that maintaining good health, cleanliness, and caution when using cosmetics are all matters which substantially help in reducing hair loss. Loss of hair is sure to happen if you are afflicted with severe illness involving high temperature. It also happens to people who undergo major surgery or emotional stress. It may occur not immediately but after several weeks of the incidence.

As a rule people with low protein diet are liable to suffer from hair loss. It is same with anemic condition due to iron deficiency. Fruits and vegetables with Vitamin C will help to absorb iron. Maintain the hair in a good condition is one of the prime needs to prevent hair loss. There is several hair oils medicated, which claim to ensure a hefty growth of hair on being used. Such claims have not been substantiated by proven data. It is not known how many people wash their hair regularly. All that we know from the several shampoo advertisements is that shampooing of hair is becoming more popular. The frequency of shampooing is not known. Shampooing is good because it consists of detergents, soap, water, oils, and many other additives including herbs which help growth of hair.

The problem is for people who are becoming bald and not able to stop the hair loss. Doctors claim that medical treatment like cortisone injections will help to stop loss of hair. But people have found that the easiest and the least expensive way is to wear a suitable wig. The problem with wig is keeping it in place, especially in wintery condition. Permanently wearing a cap or hat is a way of hiding baldness. In fact many people did not know that Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime minister was a completely bald person because of the Gandhi cap he wore permanently.
